Stuff Portrait Friday
After months of lurking, I've finally decided to play along with Kristin's Stuff Portrait Friday. This week's assignment:
1. Something mean looking
2. Your weapons
3. Your Hiding Place
My something mean looking is this clown that Jeff and I encountered at a birthday party a while back. I've long had a fear of clowns, dating back to my first time watching the movie Poltergeist, and this clown, named "Sketchy," did nothing to alleviate my fear. She was impatient with the kids, nasty to the parents, and frankly, looked like she'd rather be throwing back a bottle of whisky than entertaining a bunch of preschoolers. Here she is looking at a kid who asked for a balloon animal. SCARY!
Currently, my "weapons" are these parenting books geared towards raising kids with traumatic backgrounds (a classification for which Vika and Eamon both qualify). They have been instrumental in helping me fight the knee-jerk reactions I often have towards my kids' misbehavior, and have encouraged Jeff and I to deal with these instances in a way more conducive to promoting attachment.
My hiding place at the moment is our bedroom. Whenever Jeff takes the kids for a while and gives me a break, I like to hide out in there and read a book or watch a DVD. Prop me up on some pillows with a nice cup of tea, and I'm set!
Did you play?

That clown is horrible! I hate them too, but that one takes the cake.
Happy SPF and I played too. :-)
That clown is a woman??? Yikes!!
that clown looks like a GUY...weird.
like your hiding place.
i played too.
Nice SPF! I did not play, so can I just say you played on my behalf? Thanks!
Clowns are scary and mean and not funny or cute at all. And that one is heinous!
I love your hiding place, and nice weapons. You're well-armed.
I don't like clowns either. Especially clown dolls.
I have heard of that I Love You Rituals book. Do you like it?
Jen - the "I Love You Rituals" book is pretty good, but even better is the other book (by the same author), "Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline." It is a horrid title, I know, but the methods it teaches have been very useful so far. I would definitely recommend it.
And yes everyone, that clown was a woman! You should have seen the long magenta talons she had for fingernails. Totally creepy...
Dude! No wonder you were so scared. Great. I have been having trouble sleeping and now I will have more trouble with that clown image in my head. *shiver*
I like to hide in my bedroom too but everyone keeps finding me!!
I played too :)
Eww. Clowns icky. BAD.
I'm glad you played!!
OMG! I hate clowns too. Clowns and porcelain dolls. My MIL collects those. The dolls not clowns.
I might have to check out SPF. Sounds interesting.
