Nectarines!

We've had our nectarine tree for about 6 years now, and in all that time, we have picked and eaten just one nectarine. This is entirely due to the fact that we have hungry little vermin running around our backyard, stealing our crop. Sure, squirrels seem cute and fuzzy at first, but once they begin dropping the tattered remains of half-eaten nectarines onto your lawn, they lose some of their appeal.

This year, by some strange quirk, the squirrels completely ignored our tree, and last night we picked 9 beautiful, ripe nectarines! This may not seem like much to the average person, but for us, it was definitely cause for celebration. We ate the first of the nectarines this morning, and I assure you, no piece of fruit ever tasted sweeter.

By the way, the weather has cooled down some, and Vika and Eamon wanted to wear their fuzzy PJs - hence, their attire while picking the nectarines. (Can you tell I'm anal about my kids' clothes? The fact that I feel compelled to explain this should be a good indicator..)
