Easy Riders

We are now officially one of those families. That was the thought going through my head on Monday as Jeff and I peddled down a bike trail, towing Vika and Eamon behind in a trailer. I had always seen families doing the bike trailer thing during my days commuting to work, and now it seems that we have joined their ranks.

Jeff has decided that we need more exercise (he's perfectly right, of course), so he purchased a bike trailer with the intention that we would bike the kids around town. He's been peddling Vika to school, with Eamon along for the ride, nearly every morning, and this weekend we rode about 12 miles total, going to a local wildlife park and back (yes, my hind quarters were very sore).

As I peddled behind Jeff, listening to the kids sing and laugh in the bike trailer, I felt completely happy. Even though we had become one of those families, I was enjoying it. Keep in mind, this was on the bike trip out to the park. On the way home, as I huffed and puffed along the trail, ignoring the pain in my bad knee and trying not to bump my abused rear end too hard on the seat, I must admit that I was feeling anything but content.

Despite my feelings of discomfort, we still had a great day. The kids love the bike trailer, and Vika especially enjoys the novelty of being dropped off at school in it. I have yet to pull the thing, but someday soon, I'm sure I'll be tooling around with the kids in tow. I just need to get a bike seat with better padding first!

I love those bike trailers. I almost bought one once, but opted for the two kid jogging stroller. I like to bike and it is something I miss doing since kids.

    BTW I love your sunglasses!

How funny we just saw one of those this weekend and I said to my husband "we should get one of those"! Although I'm just like you, I last about 5 minutes on a bike, then everything starts to hurt. You definitely need a wide gel seat!

I haven't been on a bike since I was 8 years old probably. I am a walker so I will probably just get a stroller. Cute pics though
