Sand in my hair
This weekend we went to the beach. It was supposed to be partly cloudy, which should have made for great family portrait lighting. However, the wind was blowing so fiercely that we wound up spending much of the day huddled behind a make-shift wind block (a sheet tied to some tall pieces of driftwood), trying to make tea and cook hot dogs on our mini propane stove. The amount of sand blown into our bags, clothing and hair was enough to fill a small child's sand box. It was not quite the day we envisioned when we set out for the coast that morning.
However, a short hike over the dune hills brought us to a valley of beach grass that was blocked from the cold wind. We threw down our blanket and spent the rest of the day lounging around and taking pictures. Every once in a while we would climb up to the top of the sand dune, braving the blast of cold wind to look out onto the ocean. Other than some sea gulls and the flock of pelicans that kept flying overhead, we had the beach all to ourselves. It wound up being quite a nice day after all.

Excellent pictures. The beach grass really made a great setting and, of course, your beautiful family always looks great in pictures.
Vika looks so pretty and happy, and Eamon looks so strong and handsome. OF course you all look fabulous :)

What a great shot. And all of you wore coordinating colors! You can tell there are two photographers in the family. I am a little surprised that Vika went so far from home without her tiara!
