There's a Little Black Spot on the Sun Today
In the excitement of Vika's last day of school, I neglected to post about the Police concert. Yes, I still went, even though I felt like death warmed over. And yes, I feel even worse today as a result of sitting outside for nearly 5 hours watching a concert in the Oakland A's stadium. Am I glad I went? Heck yeah! I have seen Sting in concert few times now, but I had never seen the Police live before. It was worth every cent of the $90 plus service fee we paid for our tickets (which was much less than my friend Cathy spent for her field seats. You can read her account of the concert here.)
True, Sting, Andy and Stewart were about the size of ants from our vantage point. And yes, there were way to many smoke fumes from illegal substances wafting around my congested head. The three times my head was whacked from the erratic dancing of the drunk girl behind me didn't help matters either. But I still enjoyed every minute of the show. Even through my makeshift kleenex earplugs (Jeff and I had left our foam ones at home). Sting was awesome, as always, and Stewart Copeland is perhaps the best drummer I have ever seen perform (aside from my brother, of course. Love ya Joe!). Stewart just seemed so happy to be playing live, and his enthusiasm was infectious.
My favorite song of the night was "King of Pain," which was played during the first encore. I also enjoyed "Walking in your Footsteps" and "So Lonely." I do wish they had played "Synchronicity II, " but you can't have everything, right? As I left the stadium, my $40 girley Police T-shirt in hand, I was so thrilled to have finally seen the band I've been a fan of since I was a child, live in concert. However, I was even more thrilled to be heading home to a dose of Nyquil and my bed.

Did they sing their song?
I really like Sting. I mean as a person and as a singer. How cool that you saw the Police (in Oakland?)!
so utterly jealous. They played in Seattle while we were in Anchorage. Gah! I am not a huge concert goer, but I have a list of artists that I would give anything to see. Sting is at the top of the list. And the Police... even bettah!
I'm not a huge concert-goer either, although I used to be when I was younger. In fact, I think the last 2 concerts I've been to were Sting and the Police. I guess that shows which artists (or rather, artist) I deem worth of my hard-earned cash!
How awesome that you went!
A tad jealous over here.
I really hope you start to feel better soon.
k
totally great!!
Glad you went and enjoyed it. I'm still jealous though. Beyotch.
Sounds like a great show.
I'm so glad you had a good time, even though you felt like poop!
