Working for the Weekend

This weekend was an eventful one for the kids. On Saturday, we went to the Lakeshore Learning Center in San Jose for a free arts and crafts program. The project for this weekend was mouse pads. Vika and Eamon enjoyed squishing the paint and applying the stickers to their "masterpieces," and I enjoyed looking around the store. As a teacher, how could I not have known such a place existed? Everything I could possibly need for a classroom was right at my fingertips. Now all I need is a classroom! Anyway, the kids had a great time, and since Lakeshore hosts these workshops every Saturday, I imagine we'll go back soon.

Yesterday Jeff and I took the kids to Quarry Lakes, a new park just down the street from our house, for a barbeque lunch and some fishing. I use the term "fishing" loosely here, since Eamon kept sticking his entire pole in the water and scaring any nearby fish away. Still, Jeff had fun introducing them to one of his favortie pastimes, and we all enjoyed a break from the rainy weather.
