Where We're At

Jeff and I have defintiely been spinning for the past week or so. In between work and me being sick, we've also been trying our hand at "attachment parenting," a method recommended for adopted kids that, while effective, is VERY time consuming! We are on quite a learning curve right now, but I'm hoping things will start to settle down and the attachment stuff will begin to come more naturally.

Today we have our first post-placement visit from our social worker. This report will be sent to Russia, telling the Ministry of Education how the kids are doing in our care. As a result of this visit, Jeff and I have been reflecting over the past 4 months we have had the kids, what we've done right, and what we can improve (hence, the move towards more focused attachment parenting). I thought now would be a good time to post the referral pictures of our kids next to pictures of them today, to see how far we've come.

Very nice post. They don't even look like the same kids? It's so hard to remember when they were just pictures of little people thousands of miles away, and not they are firmly entrenched in our lives and in our hearts.

Thanks mom and Irma. The post-placement visit went well today and the social worker really clicked with the kids. Hopefully she'll be doing the rest of our post-placement visits as well.
