Um....did I move away from all my favourite things?? I think so!
Ooh, I didn't even know they made mint m&m's. I will definitely go out and buy them this weekend. I am not Catholic, but my husband is and my favorite part is coming down on Christmas morning and seeing the tree, stockings and gifts and getting to open them with family and eat all day. I am like a kid at Christmas, because I didn't celebrate it growing up.
I love all your Christmas things. I love kate's list too. I had really magical Christmas's as a child and I have never seemed to be able to duplicate them as an adult. Maybe I need to copy down these lists and see how to incorporate them into my life.
My 2 favorties are:
Family coming in to town.
Watching the kids open their gifts.
Im a long time lurker that is going to be brave enuff to delurk hehe.
I love the mint M&M's also. My favourite things for Christmas...
1) Never ending BBQ and pool parties (oh yeah Im in Australia hehe)
2) Buying presents. We have a $5 rule and the quirkiest gift wins. Usually nothing but the joy of winning for this year.
3) Sleeping in. No work yay.
4) Being at my Mum and Dad In-laws. Its heaven!
My favorites have changed over the years. When Jenni and her brother were little, the #1 favorite thing was being able to get them that one special gift (cabbage patch doll, hamsters, etc) and watching them find it or open it!
Now my favorites are:
1. Being with my kids and their growing families
2. This year, having my two newest grandkids (Vika and Eamon) "help" me decorate the house
3. Having ten grandkids and hanging all their stockings
4. All the houses decorated with white lights on our street
5. Lighting my cinnamon candles
6. Cost Plus' Ginger Snaps
7. All my silk poinsettas! This one drives Jenni nuts!
8. Watching Jenni during gift opening time gazing around the room to be sure she and her brother have the same amount of presents!!
Ok, so my mom outed me! At the age of 33, I still mentally calculate the gifts Joe gets with those I get to make sure everything is even. I attribute this to being a twin and having to share everything my entire life (even the womb). That's really my only excuse. I should have outgrown this by now, but old habits die hard!
As for the silk poinsettas, my mom has them EVERYWHERE. I'm serious. She has hundreds of those things, and they are placed in every available nook and cranny. It's sensory overload sometimes when you see them all. She defintiely needs to branch out and get some greenery in that house.
LOVE YA MOM!
Oh yeah, welcome to the commenting board no dramas! I was wondering who some of my Australian readers were! Nice to meet you!
The best things about December...
That I get two weeks off from school and that Starbucks sell my fave coffee drink of the season which is my Gingerbread Lattes. Yum! I know..I am weird, oh well!
I finally found the mint m&ms at Target. Yay!
It's true, the gingerbread lattes are really good.
But my favorite tradition is that my dad always makes "Silver Fizzes" for everybody on Christmas Day. Sweet lime juice and cream and vodka and ice and a raw egg - everybody makes like they're grossed out by the egg, but we drink them anyway.
Oh - in the blender.
