I actually hadn't seen that yet. First thought? Disgust. Second thought? I wonder if the artist is making a somewhat tongue-in-cheek commentary about how we over focus on celebrities as if they are something better than us. So much media attention, and so forth. The virtual highs and lows of society in such a way.
While I do admire Angelina Jolie's work with the UN and her advocacy for international adoption, I agree that the husband stealing somewhat tarnishes her image. I don't think she'll be up for sainthood anytime soon.
When I look at this painting I keep imagining those decidedly non-glamorous WalMart shoppers looking at tabloid stories of Brangelina and thinking how wonderful they are. I think Maggie hit it right on the head. It is a funny how Angelina is so glorified for adopting internationally, which is something that many of us, leading regular lives, have done.
Don't like it, seems very inapropriate. But, I am an Angelina Jolie fan, I like her view on adoption and I like that she has been very vocal about her adoption, her feelings about adoption and the suffering of children. I think she has done it with taste compared to many celebs!
In December, 2005, we adopted two children from Russia, expanding our home by "four feet." Life has not been the same since! Join me as I juggle the responsibilities parenthood, my job as a kindergarten teacher (ack! how did THAT happen?), and an obsession with knitting.

Wow a husband stealing hussy as the Virgin Mary?
As they say...Only in America :)

And the other thing Jenii, is that the celebrities can adopt so easily. No waiting time for them. Oh to have their bank accounts.
Gee, I wonder if this comes in a paint-by-number kit - would make great stocking stuffers next year!!
This is weird. I don't get the Angelina thing - I suppose the overglorificaton of celebrities is the point here, but it still seems sacriligous to me.
Ugh!!
There's not much virginal about Angelina, but at least they didn't use Madonna.
