SPF - A Real Handful

This week's SPF assignment: Put something you own in your hand and take a picture of it. A handful of something.

Here's a handful of Elle's Sweet Hope Truffles. She sold these on her site a while back, and made them just in time for Mother's Day. I ordered the mixed variety box, and while I wanted to eat this entire handful last night, I managed to limit myself to just one. One wonderful, heavenly, scrumdillicious truffle. The proceeds from the sale of these candies go to help adoptive families in the U.S., so I'm eating chocolate for a good cause! :)

Also this week, I was tagged by Melissa: (Cath, I'll get to your tag soon too, I promise!)

Here Are The Rules
1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

1. I used to drink the juice from pickle and green olive jars as a child.
Not sure why, but the juice was something I craved. Nowadays, I still crave green olives, especially when I've got a headache. They always seem to help make it better.

2. I'm not sure what color my eyes are. Sometimes they look dark blue, sometimes they are dark green, and other times they look charcoal gray.

3. I love the show "Survivor," and have never missed an episode. In fact, I'm TiVoing it right now (Go Yao Man and Earl!).

4. I cannot wait for the newest (and last) Harry Potter book. I'm with Melissa on this one. I love Harry Potter! So much so that my cell phone's ringtone is "Hedwig's Theme" (the opening music in the movie). I pre-ordered book 7, and can be found standing in line at the movie theater on the opening day of all the Harry Potter films.

5. When I was little I used to be able to tell when my twin brother was about to enter the room.
I would get this weird vibration sensation in my ears when Joe was coming near, but I never got that with anyone else. He said he used to feel the same thing, but as we got older, it went away.

6. I was the first girl to make it into the Majors in Tucson's Little League Baseball.
I was a complete tomboy growing up and disdained girls' sports. I had to play with the boys or not at all. I actually got pretty good at baseball, and when I tried out for the Majors, I made the cut. Many of the dads did not like the idea of a girl playing on their sons' teams, but my teammates didn't seem to mind.

7. One of my favorite things to eat ever is a rice-crispy treat.
Shouldn't this have been something I outgrew by the age of 10?

8. I love reading reference books, and as a child, was frequently mocked for reading encyclopedias.
The person who mocked me? My mother.

I think I will tag:
The first 8 people who read this blog. You! Tag! You're it!

  3. Maggie Says:

I've got chalmeleon eyes, too! I just say my eyes are blue-grey and hope that covers it. (Unless I'm wearing tan or yellow, because then they're bright green.)

  4. Bella Says:

    The truffles look so yummy!

  5. Jana Says:

    I played.

  11. Janet Says:

Wow, you have a really long hand!

#1: I still drink the juice from olive jars, I just add some vodka to it now :-)

#4: Omg, me too, me too!!!

#8: Hmmm...what a weird thing for your Mom to do!

  12. Connie T. Says:

I am glad you said they were candy, I was wondering what they were when I first looked. I played too.

  13. Arlene Says:

    Your mom cracks me up!!!
I love pickle and olive juice still!!!
Those truffles look yummy, how do I buy some?
Oh yeah, and I played too :-)

  14. Melissa Says:

I also preordered the book. I just gotta have it the day it comes out.

  15. Jenni Says:

Maggie - "chameleon eyes" I like that term!

Janet - yes, I do have a long hand. Seriously, my hands are bigger than my dad's! At least they aren't beefy. Then they would be "man hands." :)

Arlene - I don't think Elle is selling the Sweet Hope Truffles right now, but the next time she does, I'll post about it to let you know. They are AWESOME!

And I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with a fondness for pickle or olive juice - see Starfish! It may be weird, but I do not stand alone in this weirdness. :)

  16. yum, those truffles are good, aren't they? i also had my *ONE* truffle of the day last night during "The Office".

    have a nice weekend.

  17. Wendy Says:

Yummy looking truffles! I probably would have eaten them all right after I took the picture.
That is really interesting about knowing when your brother was coming. One of my best friends has twins. I will have to ask her if her girls have anything like that going on.
I used to drink pickle juice too and I love olives! You aren't weird.

  18. oooooh my gosh!!! those look INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Lea Says:

The truffles definitely look yummy. That is really cool about you and your twin brother. I'll have to ask my sister and brother if they ever noticed that.

  20. Sandi Says:

Funny, I never know my daughter loved pickle and olive juice! I know I certainly did. In fact, my dad wouldn't let me eat his martini olives because they were expensive. So I would just sneak sips of the juice. But he caught on - I think it was when he found a bunch of shrivled up little green things in the jar.... Hey, I was 10! How was I to know they needed their juice to survive!!!!

  21. Elizabeth Says:

Mmmmm, truffles. How did you not eat them all?

    I played.

  22. kate Says:

Jenni, happy mother's day! Thanks for sharing Vika and Eamon with us.

  23. Those truffles look yummy! Gimme one!!

    I played too :)
