Peeved
Some more news on the Vika school front. Her teacher continues to show a movie every day. Yesterday it was Curious George, which may be a good story, but has nothing to do with the curriculum. Not sure what today's feature was, because when Vika told me about it, I learned some far more irritating news: Vika's teacher made her CRY. In class. So not cool. I asked Vika what happened, and she said, "I was doing my paper wrong, so Mrs. K. yelled at me. I just didn't know how to do it!" Now, unless she's throwing a temper tantrum for us, Vika is not really a crier. Especially at school - she was one of the best behaved kids in her class last year. So, for her to cry because of something her teacher did or said, it had to be pretty forceful and unexpected.
The good news is that shortly after this incident, the teacher showed a movie, which Vika said made her feel better, so she stopped crying. You can't see me right now, but I assure you that my jaw is clenched so tight my teeth might crack. I know that there are 2 sides to every story, but at this point, I'm too annoyed to fully understand the teacher's point of view.
Clearly, I need to talk to this woman ASAP. I also should probably talk to some first grade teachers at my school to see how to best approach the teacher in a constructive way. Because right now, I just want to throw erasers at her.

Oh, the poor girl!
If you need help throwing erasers at the teacher I will help you.
Arrrgggg!!!!
Sick'um!!!
Get her!!
Well at least talk to the princpal!
:)
Good Luck!
Sounds like you two need to have a little chat. I think getting the scoop on her from other teachers is a good idea. Do you teach in the same school district?
Poor Vika. :(
I think it's so important to be honest about our kids. Slugger has told me things that I either know are untruthful or it was his perception of what happened. (Like he told me his baseball coach in Oregon told him he was "no good." I'm pretty sure that didn't happen. More than likely the coach gave him some direction and Slugger perceived it as a criticism.)
That being said, if Vika isn't a crier something really must have happened. It definitely warrants a talk with the teacher.
You know the best thing to do for your child, but if it was me I would try to get her moved to a new teacher. I think kids should enjoy school and their teacher. And what is up with the movie everyday thing?
I bet your nostrils were flaring too! Like the part about throwing erasers - just don't say that in front of the kids because they will surely repeat it in the most inappropriate place possible.
Poor Vika!
Definitely tell her Vika came home crying and ask her what happened.
Give her a chance to explain.
And then make sure the eraser is full of chalk dust when it glances off of the bridge of her nose.
>: (
Hey now, who is messing with Vika??
Yes, two sides to every story but I would have my eraser arm cocked and loaded while she explains. And I can't wait to hear why she shows a movie every single day? Is she learning to be a film critic?
Oh my GOODNESS! That is awful, poor Vika. I hope it goes well!
