The Power of One

I had to go to another workshop today for new teachers. It seems that my attendance is required at one of these things every other week! But, today's workshop actually felt pretty useful. It was all about service-learning and motivating your students to make a difference in the world. I thought I would share a video from the session with all of you. It is pretty inspiring, whether you are an educator or not. Plus, it features one of my favorite pieces of music, "The Rainmaker" by Hans Zimmer.

Now all of you run off to volunteer your time serving some worthy project. Tis' the season, after all.

While you do that, I'll be packing for our trip to Chicago. We'll be there this weekend for my Grandpa's funeral. Not a happy occasion. On the up side, there should be some snow. Vika and Eamon are both thrilled with the idea of making a snowman. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post next week.

Hopefully some snow. At least we'll have some good family time while in Chicago. It will be a nice way to say goodbye to my Dad.

    Good video.

I'll send good wishes your way this weekend. We still have snow here and Chicago isn't terribly far from where I live.
