"The Lion King" and Unfortunate Carperting
Last night, Jeff, Ali and I went to see "The Lion King." We dropped the kids off with Mom and Ed, and headed out to grab some dinner before the show. We had seen "The Lion King" once before and were very much looking forward to seeing it again. The first thing I noticed upon entering the theatre was that my beloved Center for Performing Arts had put in new carpeting. Not something classy and upscale, but hideous carpeting that reminded us of a Century Theatre gone bad. Gold, red, purple and blue were scattered all over the floor in various geometric patterns, and looking at it for more that a few seconds made me dizzy. Jeff was so astounded by the awfulness that he had to take a picture.
Once the shock of the carpet wore off, we made our way to our seats, climbing over numerous patrons, and in my case, bonking one on the head with my purse. The three of us settled in as the lights dimmed and Rafiki began to the sing "The Circle of Life." If you haven't seen "The Lion King" on stage, I highly recommend it. The costumes, props and sets are truly impressive, and the music is wonderful (especially the new songs which were not in the film).
Jeff, Ali and I had a great evening (as you can see from our "self portrait" taken during intermission), and the kids had fun spending the night with babushka and deydushka.
