Happy Birthday to Us!

Today is my and my brother Joe's 33rd birthday. Or, as I prefer to think of it, the 4th anniversary of our 29th birthday. Things just seem nicer that way. However, since Joe was born a whole minute before me, I can console myself with the fact that he is, and always will be, the older one.
As you've probably figured out, Joe and I are twins. And no, we are not identical. People always ask me that when I tell them I have a twin brother. "Are you guys identical?" There is one significant difference between boys and girls which makes this impossible. However, I understand that the first thing that comes to people's minds when they hear about twins is whether or not they look alike. So, I try not to roll my eyes too much when asked this question.
Having a twin brother has been great. Since we aren't identical and are not the same gender, we were never really compared to each other and did not feel the need to prove our individuality. Even sharing a birthday has been cool. Especially during our poor student days when Joe and I would each "give" each other $10 million for our birthday. Since our gifts cancelled each other out, the "exchange" usually went something like this:
Joe: "Hey Jen, happy birthday. Are we doing the usual $10 million dollars?"
Me: "Yep."
Joe: "Ok, well, since they cancel each other out, I'll just keep the $10 million I was going to give you."
Me: "Sounds good. I'll do the same. Happy birthday!"
Although one year, Joe did give me an actual check for $10,000,000! I still have it, and if he ever strikes it big, I'm cashing in (Joe, you're on notice).
I'll finish off this post with a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday," sung slightly off-key and with great enthusiasm:
Happy birthday to us! Happy birthday to us! Happy birthday dear Joe and me! Happy birthday to us! And many more…….!

As the embarassingly proud mother of these two aging young adults, I can't begin to tell you what a joy it was to raise them. They were such fun when they were little, better than most as teenagers, and now my two best friends! I still feel the most complete when the three of us are together - especially now with our awesome expanding families! Much love to you guys - thanks for being such incredible kids and now for being such incredible adults. There simply aren't words.....
Happy Birthday!!! Hope you have a great day, even though you won't be able to spend that million bucks.
Happy Birthday Mama Jenni!
Happy Birthday!!! Here's to hoping your brother wins the lottery!!
Happy Birthday Jenni! What a sweet Mama you have :o)
I totally forgot you and Joe are twins!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday! Did you get anything exciting besides my greeting? :)
Happiest of Birthdays to you! I hope Jeff Probst jumps out of your cake.
That is cool that you are a twin! I hope you had a GREAT Birthday! My mom is a twin and M's mom is a twin. That's why we had to get married. That and because our sisters have the exact same birthday.
The million bucks joke is funny. I think twins have a bond no one else gets.
Very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Twins! I LOVE that and thanks for the glimpse into what my twin boys (not identical) will be up to on their birthdays one day! You and Joe were quite the cuties! HAPPY BDAY!
